I'm a psychologist, columnist, author and professional speaker committed to help others make change work on and off the job!


Terry Paulson is a PhD psychologist, newspaper columnist, celebrated author and honored professional speaker who brings knowledge, enthusiasm, and a refreshingly unique approach to everything he does. With over 30 years of experience in conducting practical and entertaining programs for such companies as IBM, 3M, the Federal Reserve Bank, HBO, KPMG, Merck, SBC, Sony, Starbucks, Verizon, Wal-Mart, and hundreds of hospitals, universities, and associations, Dr. Paulson helps organizations, leaders, and teams make change work!

He’s author of the popular books: They Shoot Managers Don't They, Making Humor Work, and 50 Tips for Speaking Like a Pro. He is an honored “Distinguished Faculty Member” for the Institute for Management Studies and a past president of both the National Speakers Association and the International Federation for Professional Speakers. He’s been inducted as a lifetime member of NSA’s CPAE Speakers Hall of Fame, along with Ronald Reagan, Colin Powell and Norman Vincent Peale, an honor given to only 173 speakers worldwide since its inception in 1977. Business Digest called him "the Will Rogers of management consultants." He brings humor and substance to everything he does.

Terry is proud to be husband to Lorie, father to Sean, and grandfather to Micah and Jeremiah. He is on the church council and sings in the choir at Westlake Lutheran Church in Westlake Village, CA. He has a masters degree in lay theology from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA.

Dr. Paulson is a longtime Republican who has spoken to numerous Republican groups. His political comments have been shared in USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, and the Wall Street Journal. He currently writes a bi-monthly column for the Ventura County Star. His book, The Dinner: The Political Conversation Your Mother Told You Never to Have, allows you to listen in and learn as two couples from different parties and backgrounds explore a political conversation over dinner.
