On October 24, 2006, my son Sean sent me this e-mail with the subject line, "Guess who is the new Senior Pastor at Copper Canyon?" Now, that's one e-mail I couldn't wait to open. I read a message any Christian Father would be proud to read:
"Hey Dad, Thank you for all your prayers. It looks like one of ours has been answered. I met with Pastor Kenny today and he offered me the job. That was after we talked about how difficult it will be and the pain that will follow doing a church plant working with people. So, pray harder for a smooth transition for Foothill and Copper. I enjoyed talking to Grandpa the yesterday. Give him my love. I will preach at Copper on Sunday November 5th. Love ya!....Sean and Nicole and two very energetic boys!"
I replied through cyberspace, "Praise God! What a great door that is opening wide, and know that the Spirit will be with you on this exciting journey.
I’m proud of you in all that you have done with this transition. You have demonstrated maturity, a commitment to the higher purpose of what is best for all involved, clear communication, and confidence in the sufficiency of God’s grace and plan. You're a man of God who your flock will respect. You will learn, and they will help you. The early ministers didn't need a playbook; they trusted God’s spirit to guide their walk. You will do fine, because God will be with you. You have our prayers, our support and if you ever need me to speak for your church, you have me!
Give Pastor Kenny my best. I look forward to your having him as a mentor on your journey.
You've made my day! God is way to good for our own benefit!
Your Proud Dad!"
In my devotions this morning, I read Psalm 16:11: "You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy." What a promise! God cares what happens to his children. God's will comes from God's love for us. Yes, life can be difficult, but God will not less us wander aimlessly through life without meaning and purpose. A door has opened in his life that will bring many challenges. But he is about to find out, as we all do, that to know God's will for our life--and to do it--is life's greatest joy!
While my dad is bouncing back from surgery and getting back on his feet, his grandson is about to take off and soar on wings of eagles! So in the Paulson household, we are proud of both Homer, Sean and what God can do in our lives!
Praising God with you, Terry and Laurie!!
How amazing to see God work through our children....!
Blessings as you support this great family in the work that they have been called to....I KNOW they will need your love, prayers and support!

How marvelous that the path Sean is on can make such a difference in so many people's lives--just like you and Laurie continue to do. We are thrilled for everyone! Lovingly, Eileen and Bill
